Today’s Agenda

Okay, so you are here today with your revised drafts of your argument. We went over the structure for this paper last time.

1)      Turn over one draft and explain to me exactly how this draft is better than your last draft. What are the specific improvements you have made?

2)      Now, describe to me where it is you are having trouble with this draft.

3)      Workshop

Level 1

1)      Is every paragraph of appropriate length?

2)      Does every paragraph have at least one quote cited correctly?

5)      Level 2

Does the paper begin by introducing you to the author and his thesis?

Does the second paragraph present the writer’s thesis and basic evidence?

Do the individual paragraphs use evidence from the text to support the writers’ argument?

6)      Level 3

a.       Are the individual paragraphs focused on one idea?

b.      Are the sentences well-constructed, i.e., complete and detailed?

c.       Has the writer made an effort to transition from idea to idea?

d.      Can you find claims, evidence, and warrants in each and every paragraph?

Collect your writing, write one page on where it is you need to focus, and how it is that you are going to improve your paper.
